My Story

Motivator, inspirator and educator, Candace L. Green is a change agent for women around the globe. A native of Hampton, Virginia, Candace is the fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin & Mary Melton. She proudly earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at University of Phoenix. Currently, she’s completing her studies at Grand Canyon University, receiving her M.S degree in Professional Counseling to become a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. During her professional track, she has experience in Early Childhood development, Church Assimilation and Administration and is the founder and director of a women’s support group, Kingdom Beauties for Rock Center Church and "The Mark." One of the happiest days of her life came on October 23, 1999 when she married her lifelong sweetheart, the late Michael D. Green Sr. In 2006, they were assigned to pastor St. Mark COGIC, passionately known as "The Mark" in Portsmouth VA. Together, they founded Rock Center Church in 2013, serving the greater Hampton Roads area. To this union, they have an amazing son Michael D. Green Jr, who they refer to as their miracle son.

With so much to offer and inspire, Candace began to develop a public platform which blossomed into The Candy Jar. This platform allows space for women to be mentored in the areas of womanhood, parenthood, and spousal development. Before his earthly departure, Candace and Michael launched a social media series, Marry Me, that targets marriages, empowering them to live, grow and merge differences.

A foundational scripture she lives by is “He which have begun a good work in you, will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ”-Phil 1:6.  With so much to offer and inspire, mentorship, relational development and powerful messages are what you can look forward to from The Candy Jar.
"Growing up, I was a candy girl. I would eat all types of candy. My mom said, what was interesting about me, is I would always find the most unique candy. People would ask, “Where did you find that?”  In this journal, you’ll find the unfolding of unique circumstances and how I embraced the encounters. Candy can be sweet, sometimes sour, sometimes hard, sometimes sticky, sometimes soft. Life is full of these same sensory elements. But I want you to know no matter the flavor of the candy, your taste buds are equipped to identify the sweet spot." -Candace

My Family

Michael D. Green Sr.

This beautiful name will forever ring beyond loudly in my heart, mind, and soul. Such a gentle giant, Michael was a great person all around. He was a great husband and pushed me without an ounce of intimidation. He was and is still my greatest cheerleader. He was a great Father to our wonder son as well as many sons and daughters across the globe. We had such a wonderful relationship and were an unbeatable team as we worked together in ministry. No relationship, of course, goes without challenges. However, we were able to manage through the TLC principle: Trust, Love, and Communication. We trusted each other’s wisdom and honesty. Prayer was the main key in our rhythm and flow. I have continued to use that foundational piece to live on and preserve legacy. I will forever love this man.

Michael D. Green Jr.

Our son is our most prize possession. He is definitely our miracle child. He was preceded by two siblings that God needed more than we did. Michael Jr. is quite a special kid. He has brought such joy and happiness to our union. I love my family and the idea of family. Du as we so passionately refer to him, is anointed and has a huge heart. He is observant and always knows how to melt the hearts of people. I appreciate God for allowing our son to come to us. He has been a blessing just because of who he is. He is quite intelligent and I believe he is closely following in his father’s footsteps becoming a great leader for today and his future.
